The Name
Toward (sounds like “powered”) Castle was home to the chiefs of the Lamont clan. It was built in the mid 1400’s and is located on the southwestern tip of the Cowal Peninsula in Scotland. In May of 1646, during a brutal feud, the Castle was taken and the Lamont’s massacred. Today, the ruins of Toward Castle remain hidden away in a small forest a few miles from Dunoon, Scotland.
